Review of The Words (2012) by Lauren D — 06 Jan 2013
*Spoiler alert* 3 1/2 stars because I enjoyed it while I was watching it and its ending could be a very honest realistic ending to a story about morality...people just continue to live on...some die and the secrets never get revealed.
Bottom line: interesting, yet confusing. Until you talk it out and realize Dennis Quaid is Rory and he chose to live a life of fiction instead of truth and nothing major happens as a consequence except that the parts of his life that required truth (his marriage) fell apart....while the other parts of his life based on fiction flourished. A tormented writer, how cliche. But a great, thought-provoking story about choices and the reality of how life plays out because of them. God doesn't strike anyone down you just live on either tormented by your own guilt or free because you came to terms with your own truth.
Wow that's deep. I'm upping this to 4-stars. Bradley Cooper has great eyes and does great in this role ...very different from Hangover. Nice to see it. The very beautiful, Zoe Saldana was playing herself nothing amazing but the movie wasn't about her so...
