Dull and contrived throughout. The narrative voice overs were annoying, as was the dramatic-less "story" upon which the misplaced manuscript was based. And how this commonplace story of love and loss became a publishing sensation, feted by the New York literati, well, I guess we just have to use our imagination.

Quaid's dialogue, in turn, was wooden and sophomoric. We are supposed to believe this guy is a stellar literary figure? I have heard wrestling coaches who were more erudite, and possessed greater mastery of the English language, than this guy. And what was that final scene in his apartment with Olivia Wilde all about? The narrative was simply incomprehensible, as was Wilde's character. And then it ends, like a tire suddenly gone flat.
