The director cites Braveheart as inspiration. This is up there with Gladiator and Rob Roy as cinematic tales of heroism and loss. This is the black Braveheart and a black Hero's Journey. "...an action spectacle with a beating heart.
.." Makes clear the first Black Panther movie is Afro-futurism; less so, a black hero's journey.
