Review of The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (2014) by Luke C — 24 Apr 2015
A sequel to The Woman in Black never crossed my mind when I saw it, so is it any good? Well, mostly it is. It's very similiar to the first one, just less scary and with a not so good story. Most of the scares and jumpscares, and while that's what I loved about the first one, this sequel doesn't handle it all too well.
More than half of the jumpscares are fake, either children jumping out, or birds and similiar stuff, while the first one's jumpscares were more effective and more disturbing. The story isn't anything special, and not everything is explained in the end.
The acting was decent, but the characters were sort of a bore, except Eve (Phoebe Fox). On the light side, the movie's atmosphere is amazing and the sound editing is great! The house looks terrific and horrifying, and everything is spot on creepy! All in all, a decent horror movie which still manages to scare the viewer, but the story and characters might be too uninteresting for some.
