Review of The Woman (2011) by Scott G — 30 Jan 2012
What a fantastic suprise to come upon. Aparantly its a follow up to a film called The offspring, and knowing this, the beginning makes sence now, even though still not seen that film) this film plays like a american idie about a suburban family with its sewt of problems, The two kids we see in school arer not normal.
and a dull suburban experience adding to life. then one day the father goes hunting in the woods that surround the property, he comes upon a woman who very wild in her ways, he returns and captures her, clears out their basement and keeps her captured, this is where it takes another turn, he gets the family involved to look after her, and it comes off wonderfully, through this the family problems continue in school and at home all the while this wild woman is hoping to get free.
the film plays on these two elements perfectly, not quite torture pawn, but certainly horror slasher elements coming into play, and home values back at the house, the film also has wit and a fantastic soundtrack, and come the final climax great gore and certainly not playing it safe.
this film could have been so diferent and indeed two films strung together perfectly. a fantastic indie/slasher watch.
