Review of The Woman (2011) by Jon P — 07 Feb 2013
Savage, unrelenting and irresistibly ambiguous, Lucky McKee's psychosexual drama is an atmospheric gem. However, atmosphere here takes complete prescience over action and narrative, and as good as McKee's film is at keeping its audience yearning for answers, it's even better at leaving them feeling frustrated and unfulfilled; its character motivations so indecipherable that the whole endeavour pans out like a bizarre dream.
A real shame considering the stunning soundtrack, unsettling performances and genuine shock-factor.
