Review of The Wolves of Kromer (1998) by Michael R — 23 May 2008
Awful. Cinematography was uncreative and static. It's supposed to be an allegory, but it's incredibly flimsy for several reasons. The wolves obviously represent gay men, but the wolves ARE gay, making the wolf thing just campy.
At one point one of the wolves has sex with a woman and takes his fur coat off, which basically says that being a wolf is all a matter of wearing a coat when one wants to. This movie also includes several scenes in which the only goal is to hit you over the head with its unclear message (the Church is bad? Everyone hates gay people? Priests are closeted homosexuals?).
Overall a very poorly crafted and boring independent film.
