Review of The Wolverine (2013) by Michael B — 28 Jun 2014
Not especially a part of the mutant franchise, this film could have been much more appropriately named, "Yasheda," as it is more about the Yasheda clan's history than it is about the Wolverine, but then it would not have had the audience for Wolverine.
An especially devilish she-villain is introduced, one of the better adversaries in a long time. Although this effort is much a mix of Frankenstein meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, it is nevertheless a success, even if not technically what the Wolverine/mutant fans might expect.
The wrap-up at the end (make sure to stay for the credits) provides a compelling hook for the next installment, hopefully a more mutant-centered addition to the epic.
