Review of The Wolverine (2013) by John A — 06 Jun 2014
I feel a little weird giving this movie the same rating I gave X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but when I really think about the film I felt just as entertained with Wolverine as I was with Origins. This is a better film, but the movie dragged on a little bit and some moments just didn't really work for me. I feel like a huge critic saying that, so I'm going to talk about the things I did like. Hugh Jackman, as always, kills it as Wolverine! If he ever decides to the leave this role the next person has huge shoes to fill, because I can't imagine anyone else playing this character. The action was phenomenal! There are some amazing and entertaining scenes especially towards the beginning of the film. I also really like the girl who could see the future and I wasn't sure I was going to. I felt that Viper was out of place in this movie and a weak character. I almost feel like this movie was just made as a setup to Days of Future Past. By the way the end credit scene was the highlight of the film, which kind of says what about the movie? Also Silver Samurai was barley in this movie. I do like this film, but to sit down and re watch this film would kind of take a lot out of me. It is a solid X-Men film and a lot better than Origins I just can't bring it to myself to give it a higher rating.
See it in Theaters! 3 Stars!
