Review of The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Aodhan R — 18 Jan 2015

Leonardo Dicaprio has certainly taking his acting stability to new extended lenghts. Lengths that are unbearable for many actors to reach that's best being avoided. There is defintely no room or necessity for this to go as far as it did.

Martin Scorses, who we all know as a legendary director, has turned his recent work into a drug-snorting porno, and yet it's so extremely excessive and happens frequently throughout the movie. The movie got ahead of itself to compete with Scorses's finest work like 'The Departed,' 'The Aviator' and 'Gangs of New York,' and it's the sort of directorial work depicted in this movie that's best being avoided. It's my least favourite Scorses movie and i'm not sure if I'd give it another watch.

The screenplay is so overwritten with swear words that no other movie has had at such an unequal extent and unequal running time, and it makes the diaolgue sound so bizarre and absurd that it leads things astray in a ridiculously foolish way.

Also i've never seen a movie with so much screen time of overrated nudity, and it's understandable the content depicted is for the purpose of this movie being based of a true story, but the direction, writing and acting is confiscate with it's unequal and unnecessary lengths.

Leonardo Dicaprio's acting was good part of the way, but bits of it weren't as great as it is in a lot of his movies. Jonah Hill's acting was fine also; it was actually far better than it is in some of his comedies, and something new for him. Margot Robbie is the beauty queen of the movie; the audience would have favoured more screen time for her as her presence in the movie delivered a bit of excellence compared to some of the other performances. I quite enjoyed Matthew McConaughey's brief appearance - superb acting as always and straightforward self-awareness of how to present his part.
