Review of The Wizard of Oz (1939) by James P — 20 Sep 2013
"I DON'T THINK WE'RE IN KANSAS ANYMORE!".
SEE IT AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME. There simply aren't words adequate to describe the sheer joy, beauty and artistic majesty of this timeless classic. In what is an amazing technical triumph, The film has been brought to IMAX with a crisp brilliance. Visually, nothing has been lost and the modest 3d effect adds to the experience. There so much you don't see in this movie, unless you see it on the big screen. See it in a restored movie palace and, when the lights go down, close your eyes and pretend its 1939. Then open them to the opening credits and an age of American innocence that will be soon lost in a World War. Even so, never forget, "there's no place like home".
