Review of The Wizard of Oz (1939) by Michael U — 29 Jan 2014
A classic that lives on despite advances in technology. It starts off in a brownish hue in Kansas where she gets caught in a storm and gets knocked out. She travels to Oz in full color and crushes the wicked witch of the west and is given her ruby slippers.
She tries to follow the yellow brick road to find the wizard and make it back home. Along the way, she meets the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion (as well as a bird who people think is a dead Munchkin).
It's a classic story that's been revisited a few times over the years, but this one still holds up quite well. The sets are a bit cheap by today's standards, but that's a product of the time.
Still one of the all time great movies.
