Review of The Witches of Eastwick (1987) by Bradford G — 28 Jul 2009
Lotsa Good Lotsa Bad The Good: Jack is great in this, its the role he was born to play, and probably no one else could. Some of his monologues arw just so well written and delivered, its just so entertaining to watch.
I also like the camerawork/visual style. Its standard I n your face George Miller, and it works. Also John williams delivers again with a very good opening score. The Bad: The biggest thing is that I dont really feel that Darryl was all that bad of a guy, I dont think he was asking for too much.
Consequently I was rooting for him in the end. Also a lot of the "rules" regarding the supernatural I this seems to be made up as the film goes on, just random stuff out of nowhere. The subplot with the crazy lady was unnecessary and goes nowhere, as does the principal at the school.
A lot of the cgi is pretty shitty too, even for 1987. A mixed effort, but still entertaining nonetheless, especially cuz of jack.
