Review of The Witches (1990) by Morgan O — 19 Jan 2010
One of my favourite films from my childhood.
Thoroughly entertaining, and directed with a real sense of the grotesquely macabre and what scares children by Nic Roeg, as he holds up a mirror to the middle-class British mentality.
Even though Roald Dahl wasn't a fan of the adaptation, I still think it's pretty much the only adaptation of his work that does his writing justice (although I still haven't seen FANTASTIC MR. FOX).
