Nightmare of the Wolves is an adaptation made for the fans who where first introduced to the series through the video game franchise. Subtle nods and references are a great touch. The movie is complimented with outstanding voice acting performances and beautiful animation.

A big drawback the film has is its goofy use of CGI although it does work in some moments. The story is nothing deep and follows typical fantasy story beats, although a lot of the dark subject matter tackled here is done very well.
