Review of The Witch (2016) by Eriel B — 30 Jun 2016
"The VVitch" was fantastic, one of the best horror films I've seen of late. I was curious how a film festival circuit horror film broke into the mainstream cinemas (rarely happens -- let's just say, film festival entries have a definite "type"), but now, I completely get it.
As arty and subdue as it was, it's constant (brilliant) sense of dread was so strong, even the most obtuse human being could sense it -- and be unable to escape it. The sets/costumes/castion/acting were so convincing, you could swear this was actually taped in 1630.
I can't recommend this film enough for BOTH movie buffs and horror hounds.
