Your'll probably see a lot of reviews whining about this film being boring. That'll be because this generation has attention span of gnats. This is because this movie slowly unfolds, increasing the tension as it goes.

Much like a film like the Shining. People gradually unravelling and pressure constantly building. It is an extremely original piece of cinema. Perfectly directed and photographed. The story is a patchwork of folklore and history from the early settlers in the New World.

We all know how that ended up. People back then depended on their faith to get them through a really tough existence, and that very faith also brought with it some issues. The idea of witches was in everyone's minds and they were a little too paranoid.

This movie is very good at taking you right into the middle of that kind of finger pointing but also introduces some nasty and spooky elements along side that. Excellent performances from all. One of the freshest and best films I have seen in a while.

Be prepared to be challenged with the dialogue because it is pretty genuine, ie not modern at all. One gets used to it though after a while. Take a chance and watch it. But not if you like fast paced slashers.
