Review of The Witch (2016) by Nico S — 24 Oct 2016
After seeing the trailer and hearing all the buzz surrounding this film, this was going to be my go-to at TIFF. The acting, cinematography and music were all excellent. The use of old-English coupled with very strong accents did make the dialogue difficult to understand.
The casual horror fan probably won't like this due to it's very slow pace. Was this the scariest film ever like it was being advertised? Absolutely not. There were parts where I just flat-out bored.
I liked elements of this, but it did not live up to the hype.
