Review of The Witch (2016) by Jim_Taltontish — 20 Feb 2016
I won't dispute that this movie is enjoyable and a little creepy. However, it's being proclaimed a horror masterpiece. This is not even a sliver as scary as "The Exorcist." It's beautiful to look at, well-acted, and has a good musical score.
It's one of those movies that many film critics and industry insiders really seem to appreciate. Many actual consumers who are horror fans will be left asking those critics, "How out of touch are you?" I haven't been this disappointed with a film critic darling pick for horror since "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.
" Both are good films, but way too much hype on the fear factor.
