It has a slow pace despite the short runtime of 90 minutes and the ending, while I understood the context, felt too abrupt. And you'll have to deal with annoying black screens every once in a while and will probably have to turn on subtitles just to understand ye olde English accents.

But I thought the Witch was good. The performances are great, the themes are thought-provoking (even without witches, this family would barely survive due to the conditions they're stuck in) with focus on why God lets us suffer though we love Him so much.

All whilst giving a nothing is scarier vibe throughout the movie that was much better done than the other nothing is scarier witch movie I saw previously. The Witch dares to be different rather than relying on the tropes of horror movies that tell you when to be scared.
