Review of The Winning Season (2009) by Dana A — 20 Feb 2011
I'm not a fan of this film. It felt way too cliche and too cookie-cutter. Sam Rockwell at times was funny but more then others he felt flat. The story is a rather simple feel-good movie however it seems to lack heart, substance and a middle.
I found myself not really caring about the characters. The film felt rushed and everything came together wrapped in a nice bow. I will say the young actresses really felt like they were high schoolers.
They were funny and far from annoying. Not Sam Rockwell's finest moment but if you're looking for a simple feel-good movie, you'll find it here.
