Review of The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Michael R — 31 Jan 2010
Well.. If this film doesn't shake your very heart and soul, you probably have neither. The cinematography is incredible, the content an honest portrayal of horrific war, there is a legit Irish jam at one point (props!), and Cillian Murphy is (as always) beautiful and supreme.
Also, the choice to keep the dialogue fresh (yes, people stutter and stumble, yes, people start to say things and then take back the thought, and no, films do not often show this- unless for comedic effect) was a thoroughly brilliant one.
