Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Adrian B — 01 Sep 2010
A truly spectactular film, with a stunning beginning and pushing the evelope is so many ways to inspire many more westerns and bloodshed films to come. Accompanied by incredible cinematography and death from start to finish, with lots of blood splattering all over the place.
The films spares no human caught in the crossfire, whether they are man or woman, adult or child. It is one of two films from the latter part of the 1960's that revolve guns, robbery, and death (the other being the fantastic Bonnie and Clyde).
Casting wise, it is nearly perfect. William Holden as a villain in a western is great, along with Ernest Borgnine. I could not imagine anyone else satisfying these roles at the moment. Supporting cast was also great and the score was quite significant.
A great western, possibly one of the finest.
