Review of The Wild (2006) by Katie B — 27 Jul 2008
What can I say good about this movie? The animation is better than The Black Cauldron. There that's about it. This one came after Madagascar (even though I think it was in production before M) and suffers in comparison.
The writing and voice talents on M exceed The Wild by a large margin. The story of the father, Samson, chasing his son, Ryan, into the wild after Ryan was mistakenly removed from the zoo is fine. The secondary story - wildebeasts who want to become carnivores - is idiotic and somewhat nauseating.
Samson's sidekicks are bland and one never fears for the characters, never connects with the relationships, and never senses what the grand story truly is. Twenty four hours later, I'm at a loss to remember one funny moment or line from this movie.
