Review of The Wife (2017) by Ia F — 11 Sep 2018
Glenn Close kills it with a brilliant understated dramatic portrayal of a self-sacrificing spouse.. And, I also have to give credit to Jonathan Pryce for making me want to smack him, he portrayed the self-absorbed narcissist to a hilt. This story will make many uncomfortable because it confronts the disparities that were the norm in the past and that are still part of our culture to a great extent.
Too many will easily see the realities portrayed in this story. Too many will try to downplay them. This is not a political movie, although some will try to make it one. It is simply a story that provides the stark realities of life.
I won't give away the ending, but will say that I wanted her to get more than she got. Same with him, I wanted him to have to face the truth.
