Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by David T — 22 Oct 2011
This cult British classic is nothing short of stunning. A true bona fide classic.
Even after all these years the Wicker Man is still extremely powerful and thought provoking. It casually leads you to one of the most shocking conclusions in the history of cinema.
I'd go as far as saying that this movie is unparalleled - I can't think of another movie like it.
The legendary Edward Woodward is fantastic in his role as the Police Sergeant trying to solve the mystery of a missing island girl and the equally legendary Christopher Lee is also in spellbinding mood as the island leader who is very reluctant to help Howie in his search for the girl.
Everything is not what it seems on the island and Sergeant Howie is desperately trying to piece together the clues to find the missing girl only to find he himself is also lost in a world were his religious beliefs and clean living count for nothing on a island of heathens.
