Review of The Whole Wide World (1996) by Ken B — 12 Jul 2010
Hey girl, Bob Howard's the damndest bastard that ever did live and this picture show's about his romance.
Lovecraft has sort-of a cameo as he's mentioned. Reminds me I want to read the collection of his correspondence with Howard that no one has published yet.
It's a romance and I don't feel I can describe much more beyond that without spoiling it. Robert E. Howard's the husky male lead so part of the appeal is how much you like his works or his character. The time-gap between scenes can be days or months so it runs a touch confusing at times but overall it's easy to follow. The cast is pretty small. It closely follows the relationship between Bob and Novalyne. How serendipitous that her name sounds like "novel".
