Review of The White Countess (2005) by Esta K — 21 Jul 2007
Despite the fact that the back of the box told me exactly how the movie ended, this is an enjoyable, if slow, historical piece. Fiennes deserved an Oscar nomination and Natasha Richardson is fantastic, as well.
The script is strong, although I thought the direction pretty well went through the motions. It's art for arts sake in several ways, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The story is compelling enough to make this an interesting film, although not one I'd see more than once or twice.
