Whenever a film is based on true events, then there is something important on it. A good example is this movie, I think it will be one of the best films of the year, and it is in fact! It stars Rachel Weisz, on an over to the top standard great performance that I have ever seen from her ever since I first saw her in the first Mummy film in 1999. Now, I think she deserves that Best Actress nomination in this coming Oscars and I can tell you after this sentence. As you know, the title is called Whistleblower, or someone who exposes illegal doings inside a governmental place or facility, Weisz character is Kathryn Bolkovac, she works for the UN as a peacekeeper until she finds out about this underage sex slave and human trafficking to young women, and tries to protect those innocent and poor women from who, those of her colleagues of course. Kathryn must risk everything even her job and life to save these girls but then her superiors refused so. And what happens next is she got fired and probably those people who fired her still on the same place. In a matter of a story like this one, Weisz becomes the star and the heroine of the film, she's loyal, honest, naive, brave, strong, of course willing to do anything, can you imagine a role like this, and an acting like this, put the Oscar to her! Also, as a 5 star review, of course, the directing is great, you can feel from these girls about their feelings on being treated as a sex slave, and also this film delivers a riveting and intense thriller that you won't ever let go. The ending worked out on me, we did learn something about how human trafficking still happens until today and how the government responds to this tough crisis.

As much as I watched movies these days about political and conspiracy thrillers that the villains are the government, this one proves that the movie does not need a chick flick cliched formula to make into the box office. Whenever you think of Weisz now, think of Whistleblower, or else, you know...?

P.S.: I think I'm the first person in Flixster to review this film, and still it does not deserve a 70-80% rating, this is a great movie!
