Review of The Whistleblower (2010) by Raul V — 11 Sep 2011
Although inspired by actual events, the filmmakers had to change many names & certain details for obvious reasons...this type of movie could have very damaging effects to high-ranking as well as low-ranking officials in the UN, various governments around the world, & even executives in many privately owned companies operating in war torn areas.
Weisz gives another great performance that should put her in contention for a possible Oscar nod down the road. Engaging story that will really upset many by the end of the film...which is good. It's suppose to do that.
Some very graphic & truly disturbing scenes involving young women who are trafficked for sex. A hard flick to watch @ times, but probably should be watched by many. Catch it @ your local arthouse cinema before it leaves for good in a week or 2.
Should be on disc by the holidays.
