Review of The Whistleblower (2010) by Movie M — 08 Jan 2012
Docudramas or Biopics are absolute gems when they are done right. And I feel this one is not going to get its due for how nicely it was done compared to how little it is becoming available to an audience.
Rachel Weisz takes one of her appropriate dramatic turns as a police officer who takes a job as a U.N. Peacekeeper in 1999 Bosnia. There she plays an integral part to a sex trafficking organization that involves everybody from the native locals to the officers and boss figures she works with.
While the plot is fairly scattered, unfocused, and shot irritatingly in the same fashion, the viewer can't help but be effected by the subject matter that the film is trying to put across. Very powerful and told through some strong performances of a few notable actors.
The subject matter might be a lil too harsh for some and a lil too slow paced for others, but "The Whistleblower" ends up being one of those remarkable stories worth being told and dealing with a topic that must be more acknowledged in this sick and twisted day and age.
GRADE: B.
