Review of The Wedding Ringer (2015) by Gavin D — 16 Feb 2015
Working solely due to the efforts of its two leads, The Wedding Ringer is a charming comedy that has enough laughs to make it worthwhile. Kevin Hart is proving to be an actor who really needs a good script to help him out. Every film I see him in, he's working as hard as he can to sell it, but he's never given good enough material to be anything great. Even this time with Josh Gad helping him out, neither of these actors can make magic out of their script.
The jokes that work, and there are some, are solely sold by Hart and Gad's chemistry and charisma. The script is pretty predictable in plot and punchlines. Luckily, Hart's delivery is so wonderful that you can't help but laugh with him. It's not going to be very memorable, but when it's played on cable all the time in a few years, it will be worth your time.
