I feel like my credibility is going to go down for saying this but, I loved this movie. It spoke to me. If youâ(TM)ve already made up your mind on Nicolas Cage and have determined based on others ratings that this movie isnâ(TM)t for you, than read no further. But if youâ(TM)re open minded and want to hear an honest opinion on this film, I will tell it to you.

From beginning to end the writing in this movie is brilliant. Just to give one brief example, you get to hear Michael Cain explain a certainâ¦phraseâ¦that you probably never thought youâ(TM)d hear Michael Cain explaining, let alone even saying the phrase (Sorry I canâ(TM)t be more detailed but I like to keep these ratings PG even though this movie definitely isnâ(TM)t). I think Cage fits the role perfectly in that his dead pan delivery of his lines makes them that much more ridiculous and hilarious, and when he gets fired up itâ(TM)s awesome. The scene where he removes his gloves (again I donâ(TM)t want to give to much away) is great. Also, Cage gives a wonderful speech about his father (Cain) and has some really beautiful inner monologues.

A lot of the plot points are crazy which makes them really fun to watch. Like Cainâ(TM)s living wake, Cage going to beat up a child molester, Cage getting ready to shoot a guy with an arrow, Cage getting hit by lots and lots of food and beverage items, etc. It also helps that we are watching this character study based on a weather man, which is a profession that often times we donâ(TM)t get to know the person behind it. Itâ(TM)s funny to think they might live such a ridiculous life.

The movie is also beautifully shot, and pleasant to watch. This isnâ(TM)t so surprising after finding out the director is Gore Verbinski, of Pirates of the Caribbean fame. The sceneâ(TM)s flow together nicely and I never felt a lul in the story, every part fit for me and worked to create this really enjoyable movie. Itâ(TM)s strange how much fun I had watching this considering a lot of what it is about is sad.

Also, after having spent all of last night watching short films with strange or no endings it was nice to watch a movie where everything wrapped up nicely.

Honestly, give this movie a shot. You might hate it, but if you go into it open minded I think youâ(TM)ll be surprised. It really is a lot of fun, if only to hear Michael Cain say some ridiculous things.
