Review of The Way Way Back (2013) by Grant S — 21 May 2014
Oh man. This movie is such a sweet and delicate portrayal of a really really awkward kid. A couple of unrealistic things happen in the middle of the movie. You kind of just have to go with it. I loved these characters by the end.
The dysfunctional family dynamics between Toni Collette and Steve Carell are particularly well done. Steve Carell plays against type here, it turns out he can play a dick just as well as his usual cluelessly affable shtick.
Well done, Sir.
