Review of The Way Way Back (2013) by Aaron A — 13 Jul 2014
A heartwarming, charming and at times bittersweet film in which awkward teen Duncan (Liam James) bonds with guy who works at a water park, Owen (Sam Rockwell). Billed as a comedy, I would probably say it's more of a comedy drama, it's far from laugh a minute but there's nothing wrong with that as the laughs come at the right time and well measured.
The gags come naturally rather than being put there clumsily. Liam James gives a great performance and really sells the character well and makes Duncan believable. Very good film.
