Review of The Way Way Back (2013) by C.j. H — 15 Jul 2014
The Way Way Back is a very enjoyable film, but fails to be a true coming of age story. It just ends up being a fun flick to watch on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone gives a great performance except for the films main star Liam James, who at times gives a cringe worthy performance.
That's why this movie ultimately doesn't live up to it's potential. You can't get behind the main character and couldn't care less about him. It's the likes of Steve Carell and Sam Rockwell that keep this movie from being a mediocre one.
