Review of The Way of the Gun (2000) by Justin S — 17 Aug 2009
Even if you have no interest in it, at least watch the first three minutes with Sarah Silverman. So freaking funny.
I've always been intrigued by this movie, but never saw it due to lack of good reviews or recommendations. I finally pulled the trigger and I'm glad I did as it was definitely worth it. I understand why so many people don't like it: it's very slow paced so if you aren't digging the plot or characters it's gonna be torture. I for one was on board the whole time. One thing I liked is how in (most of) the gun scenes the characters employed actual tactics and strategy instead of the usual "shoot in the general direction of the enemy." Then again, I recognized the Galil so I'm probably somewhat of a nut. And I had to love the Wild Bunch homage near the end.
Not mind blowing or genre changing, but a worthy effort.
