Review of The Way He Looks (2014) by Kevin M — 14 Jun 2017
A simple story, endearing characters and a beatiful photography make this a heartwarming movie. And, although I liked the short film better, this is still a great movie that portraits a sweet story in a non-cliché way.
At times the added sub-plots and drama feel over-dramatic or out of place, but that can be forgiven because, after all, this is a movie about teenagers. I really liked that the director and writer was able to develop drama in this teenagers' romance without recuring to the typical decision of coming out of the closet or the bullying because they're homosexuals.
He, along with the two amazing main actors, was able to create a really remarkable couple, one that you can't help but root for the entire movie and you wish the movie was longer so you can see more of their relationship.
I do believe the short film is better, but this movie is still a very sweet and relatable coming-of-age story.
