The Way Back should have been a formulaic film that is forgotten but Ben Affleck decides to do things differently. You so badly want to see his character succeed and move on from his downfalls and when he doesn't you feel the impact.
Life isn't always happy and this movie shows that your actions have consequences and you don't always win in life.
