Review of The Way Back (2011) by Michael K — 02 Jun 2011
A film, based (apparently loosely) on a book called The Long Walk, about man's 4000 mile walk to freedom. The movie was held together by top notch acting from its splendidly selected cast; its downfall coming from the director's use of quick cuts in some important spots; however, there are some amazing shots of the landscape as the group progresses on their journey.
The movie clocks in about a hair over 2 hours; I wish more of that time was spent on developing character backstories, but I know that would of resulted in a much longer movie (which w/ a cast like this, would have been fine by me).
