Review of The Way Back (2010) by Shane F — 20 Aug 2011
Not a big fan. It's hard to realistically have good actors like Farrell and Sturgess have Polish and Russian accents and take it seriously. I don't know if it was Weir's intention, but I also found it extremely difficult to connect with any of the characters.
The acting was good across the board, but it dragged on for too long, and tried too hard to be a Lawrence of Arabia/Great Escape hybrid. Emotionally draining (not in a good way), and a chore to watch, The Way Back is an alright film, but doesn't deliver on its epic genre standards.
