Review of The Way (2010) by Larry R — 03 Dec 2011
The Way is several moving stories, interwoven and folding in on one another. Daniel'swanderlust. Thom's regrets and sorrow for having lived a life other than the one he'd choose for himself. Sarah's sense of unworthiness and lost over the daughter she chose not to have. Joost's extroverted, jovial mask hiding his desire to be loved. Jack's pretense covering up his lack of self-confidence and courage to do the thing he has in his heart. Then, each character dealing with their individual struggles while forming bonds allowing them to help each other as well.
The movie is rich, and beautiful, and deep while at times being airy and funny. Martin Sheen turned in a wonderful performance, as did the supporting cast.
I liked the movie very much, and would recommend it anyone who needs a reminder that life is meant to be lived intentionally, not accidentally or by default. And, really, who doesn't that describe?
