Review of The Way (2010) by Daniel K — 12 Mar 2012
The way is a moving and touching film that can be a bit heavy-handed at times and can get a bit monotonous. The story is familiar, but has enough new to make it interesting. The performances, largely from the four leads, specifically Martin Sheen, are all good and their interactions of these four strangers provides most of the entertainment value of the picture.
Also, the beautiful photography of the locations and the architecture also compliment the film nicely and give the viewer plenty of amazing things to look at. I do find some degree of fault with the prodigious use of shots of people walking through this scenery to be a little too much.
I wish that Emilio Estevez had dedicated as much time to his characters as he did to his locations. I, however, found these issues to be minor and did thoughly enjoy the film. Worth a look for anyone, especially if you like lovely scenery with your sentimental films.
