Review of The Way (2010) by Autumn H — 29 Nov 2012
I didn't think this would be great, but I thought it at least would be decent. I was wrong. Mostly, I wanted to see this for some landscape porn -- I am interested in traveling to the places depicted in this film.
I thought I might also get a nice story, perhaps get involved in a sad yet uplifting tale of loss and redemption. No. The characters were uniformly annoying (esp. Martin Sheen's character) and unlikeable; the story was uneven & unbelievable and the dialogue was stilted.
The acting wasn't even very good, especially by the abrasive and obnoxious woman (I suppose that's Deborah Kara Unger) who joins the group. I got little in the way of landscape porn and despite the sad premise, felt not a shred of sadness or empathy for the characters.
A big UGH to this, and a thumbs down.
