Made like a good old fashioned saga move from the 50's. It's more a fable than the modern day gritty trend at reality and darkness. You always knew Russell Crowe would deliver the light at the end of the tunnel and he does so with an understated flair.
A charming story sitting over a truly shocking period of ww2.
