'The Water Diviner' is a respectable war movie but that does not make it any good. This directorial effort from Russell Crowe lays on too much schmaltz mixed with battle scenes that fall short on intensity and clarity.
This is an uneasy mixture of dark scenes of tragedy and a sappy, forced story that lays on too much melodrama. The movie also suffers from an extremely lackluster ending.
