From reading the reviews, it seems more that the critics are reviewing their feelings for Crowe than they are reviewing the actual film. It was a beautiful, quiet picture, one that you have to pay attention to in order to catch the subtleties and nuances.
The scenery is amazing, even when it's bleak. I thoroughly enjoyed the picture, despite the sadness of the story.
