Review of The Water Diviner (2014) by Chad B — 05 Jan 2016
This wasn't the worst nor was it the best. Russell Crowe seemed to be finding his place as a director/actor. To me its a good idea to do one or the other, not both, especially when you are the lead character.
Seems a bit narcissistic or altruistic to say the least. Watching this film made it hard to connect the dots, not to mention that there are some inaccuracies in history. I felt as if its a war movie, no wait its a journey of a father finding his sons, no wait its a movie about love, no wait its about our journey.
I didn't get a clear sense of what direction this film was going and truthfully it lacked focus. I commend Russell Crowe for directing this film however, in his second attempt at directing, I hope he leaves himself out of the film and focuses more on direction and driving the story home.
