Review of The Watcher (2000) by Don S — 16 Sep 2011
As far as thrillers go, this is pretty sedate. You know who the villain is from the start, and Reeves, cast against type here, is too understated and barely convincing in the role. Spader nearly overplays the pathetic retired FBI agent that is his character.
For me, the saving grace of this movie is Tomei. Her commanding presence lends a calming effect to the polar opposite performances given by the leads. Not a great movie.
