Review of The Warrior's Way (2010) by Darren C — 20 Apr 2011
'Cowboys vs. Ninja - Sergio Leone meets Akira Kurosawa in Big Jerry Bruckheimer Style'. This pays tribute to those East-meets-West horse opera vs. samurai adventure epics from the 1970s with a mixture of martial arts sagas and violent Spaghetti westerns.
A cool concept with some magical moments and a very stylish and romanticized western with likeable main characters all with different back stories. Especially the baby is great and Danny Hustonâ(TM)s character, although heâ(TM)s one nasty fellow.
It didnâ(TM)t quit deliver on the level of awesome promised by the trailer, but once the action starts, it delivers brilliantly staged action sequences a cross between live-action anime and the style from â~300â(TM).
Basically, this is a glorified B-movie actioneer packed with eccentric characters and wholesale bloodshed. This will certainly be a cult hit on DVD.
